YMCA Dublin are currently looking to recruit volunteer members to it’s board of Directors. The YMCA is a registered charity dedicated to meeting the needs of vulnerable young people through a variety of (education, youth work and family support) programmes in Dublin. These programmes are supported by a mix of State funding and unrestricted incomes generated by our Social enterprises of Sports/Fitness & Childcare.
There are many opportunities for YMCA programme growth to meet the needs of young people, across Dublin and recruitment of new Board members is an integral part of realising that potential.
We are currently developing a strategy for the YMCA in the Dublin region for the next 5 years.
Our intention is to expand our Social enterprise incomes in order to meet the increasing needs of our Youth programmes. From Youth work & Education, homelessness and community childcare we are being challenged continuously to expand our services as the need becomes ever more apparent. We are also evaluating the potential benefits of a merger with the National Council of YMCAs of Ireland as a means of achieving our strategy.
Our Board of Directors represents a broad section of professionals and vocational workers. The goal is to strike a balance between the ethos and mission of the YMCA and steering an organisation with Social enterprises. The specific purpose of these social enterprises is to generate unrestricted funds for the provision of programmes and opportunities for the needs of Dublins Youth.
As an organisation with a Christian ethos and values base our board members must be in agreement with this ethos to further enhance the work of the YMCA through Christian social action.
We welcome conversations with anyone with an desire to help us in this push to develop our services. We would particularly welcome the contribution of those with the following skill sets;
PR/Media, Voluntary not for profit management, Vocational/Social care professionals, Business/project management.
These skill sets have been identified following a review of some area of expertise that will be required to push the YMCA forward with its next phase of development.
